Frequently Asked Questions about Counselling

What is the difference between Psychosynthesis Therapeutic Counselling and Spiritual Life Counselling?

You may have noticed that I offer two types of counselling.  There is a good deal of overlap between these two types of counselling.  However, with Psychosynthesis Therapeutic Counselling I work more deeply and more psychologically, while with Spiritual Life Counselling I work more overtly with the Sacred and I may use prayer, meditation to help you reconnect you to your wholeness.  With Psychosynthesis I use many powerful techniques to help you discover your inner wisdom: role-playing, dream work, imagery, drawing, and deep sensitive listening.

What can I expect?

A safe, non-judgemental, healing and confidential space in which you have the support to explore whatever is challenging you.  You have an opportunity to gain a new perspective.

Who is counselling suitable for?

Counselling is suitable for any adult willing and open to exploring their personal difficulties. Counselling is not just for the intellectual and articulate; indeed, over-use of the intellect can block feelings and the recognition of emotions.

How will I benefit?

Counselling can help you to understand yourself better; it can untangle painful knotted areas which block the way to living a happy and more meaningful life.

Why can’t I talk to a friend about my difficulties?

Talking to a sympathetic friend can be helpful, but it is not the same as talking to a professional counsellor who, through their expertise and experience, can help you to facilitate change.

How much does it cost?

I charge £40 per session.

How long is a session?

Sessions are for one hour and usually take place once a week.  Work can be short or long term and can also be reviewed at any time. For some people a short series of sessions are sufficient for their needs, although for other people a longer term commitment is more beneficial.
